ABSTRACT
This brings up the need to keep track of inventory items. A common way is to identify inventory items with part numbers, also called stockkeeping unit (SKU) or stock number. Part numbers are intended to uniquely identify inventory items. Each part number identifies only one item, and each item only has one part number. It is true that similar items may be substituted for others in some situations, but the fact remains that each item has only one part number.
