S IMPLY put, waterworks operators cannot fully comprehend the principles presented in Chapter 3 or the principles of effective water treatment without knowing the fundamental factors concerning microorganisms and their relationships to one another, their effects on the treatment process, and their impact on consumers, animals, and the environment. This chapter provides microbiology fundamentals specifically targeting the needs of entry-level water specialists.
