ABSTRACT
It is important to distinguish between cost control and cost accounting. Cost
accounting is the historical reporting of disbursements and costs and expendi-
tures; it is used to establish the precise and actual cost status of a project to
date. Cost control, on the other hand, is used to predict the final outcome of a
project based on up-to-date status.
