ABSTRACT

74Thank you for reading this book. In the Preface, I began by asking what it would be like if we could routinely live to the age of 120 or beyond. If that were the case, and we remained relatively youthful from a cellular perspective for the vast majority of our lifespan, then it would change the entire socioeconomic balance of society. We could all continue to be highly productive individuals whilst benefiting from a lifetime of accumulated knowledge. It would also no doubt create new challenges, but we might no longer feel the need to race through life in a rush to experience everything within our limited time on the planet, often with a total disregard for the environment. With greater longevity perhaps we could learn to enjoy life in a more responsible way. With increased wisdom, it might even reduce our relentless drive towards ever-greater procreation, although that remains to be seen.
