ABSTRACT
For manufacturing enterprises, there are three main functional pillars to survive in this competitive world: enterprise resource planning, manufacturing execution systems, and product lifecycle management. This chapter discusses about the weaving of all the three manufacturing applications in addition to the integration of service lifecycle management and application lifecycle management. Product lifecycle management is utilized to automate the monitoring of product development information and integrate the data with various other business processes. Author explains the path to close the gap between these systems, as manufacturers are desiring to promote information sharing between the useful areas of design, process, shop floor, and workplace that form the basis of digital transformation. An excellent PLM ecosystem manages and enables collaboration, secures product-related information, and guarantees organization business processes that are utilized for better product design, development, and service.
