ABSTRACT

The chapter deals with the concept of sustainable development and discusses its main implications to organizational sustainability. The main dimensions of sustainability are defined and linkages between sustainable development and happiness are examined. The example of Lithuania is presented in terms of defining impacts of sustainable development on happiness. The sustainability assessment concept is defined and sustainability measurements are grouped and broadly debated. The organizational sustainability is discoursed by providing connections between implementation of sustainable development on macro and micro levels. Sustainable development of the organization and various sustainable management models are presented and conferred. The definition of sustainable organization is considered. The importance of the organization’s culture for transformation into a sustainable organization is highlighted. The corporate social responsibility (CSR) concept is introduced by providing the significance of CSR in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). State policies in promotion of CSR are studied and examples of European Union and Lithuanian policies are provided.
