ABSTRACT

The chapter aims to address the linkages between management and leadership and presents an in-depth overview of management styles. The differences between manager and manager-leader are disclosed based on various components. The various concepts of leadership are discussed by identifying the main components of leadership and the basic traits of leadership expression. The theories of leadership and leadership styles are reflected by emphasizing the main characteristics of the leader. The importance of balance between economic (orientation to results), social (interaction with followers and orientation to people), and environmental (values, vision, and mission) components of the leadership and ability of the leader to transform the organization into a sustainable one by using the power of personality is stressed by providing associations to sustainable leadership. The significance of appearance and image of the leader is highlighted. The impact of leadership on psychological resilience of employees is investigated based on various studies.
