ABSTRACT

The surgical portfolio now represents an essential requirement and is a vital part of the core surgical training application process. Although a daunting and exhaustive preparation process, the people should view the portfolio station as an opportunity to demonstrate with full conviction why the people deserve to be a surgical trainee. The interviewers in the portfolio station then have the daunting task of working through the relevant contents of their portfolio. The courses subsection demonstrates the people commitment to surgery and is worth including early in the people portfolio. This chapter is highly organized, with a clear contents section that allows the interviewer to quickly move to the appropriate section of assessments. There are specific courses such as the mentoring and leadership courses that are directly relevant in this chapter. Clinical research aims to answer or disprove a question with the aim of establishing or contributing to best practice.
