ABSTRACT

Even though researchers have been designing millimetre wave antennas for decades, it is interesting to note that the designs applicable to cellular communication have been on the rise in recent years. In this chapter, research avenues for designs targeting mmWave 5G frequency bands are explored exhaustively. Research opportunities for designs based on PCB antennas are explained with specific technical insights. The research gaps of the previously presented designs in this book are described. The application of additive manufacturing processes for mmWave antenna designs is explained, with insights for novel designs. Research gaps in the domain of on-chip and optically transparent antennas are also highlighted.
