ABSTRACT

The concept of path loss compensation is introduced in this chapter, and two distinct patterns of diversity architecture are presented in detail. First, a mmWave tapered slot antenna is introduced, which is integrated with metamaterial unit cells along with dielectric loading. In order to increase gain and its corresponding aperture efficiency, a stacked pattern diversity module is presented to achieve uniform illumination on the ground. Second, 3D printed radome is investigated for gain enhancement and radome action, and a compact 3-port pattern diversity module is presented for wide angular coverage. The proposed antennas are deployed in a real-world scenario to study the received power profile on the ground, illustrating the concepts introduced.
