ABSTRACT
In Chapter 3, the ProcIndustries digital transformation team prioritizes refinery improvement needs and selects enterprise industrial data infrastructure (EIDI) software and technology. An overview of the software is presented in the context of how key functionality can be used to achieve the refinery’s strategic business objectives. Key EIDI capabilities and their importance to the refinery’s business goals are outlined. The EIDI collects raw time-series data from many sensors, control systems, and software systems to integrate real-time data and relevant operational information into a permanent data archive. This data infrastructure becomes the operations system of record and is used for specific functions, such as process analysis, production reporting, and business system integration. Also explained is how EIDI data is transformed from raw sensor values to important contextualized information and how existing plant process diagrams assist in configuring the EIDI database.
