ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 covers the human resource aspects that the ProcIndustries management team needs to address and plan for to ensure that employees buy in to using the new enterprise industrial data infrastructure (EIDI) system. Workers who are willing to collaborate effectively with other teams to solve business problems are essential for a successful outcome. To reduce uncertainty, company leadership needs to communicate impending changes to workflows and what is expected of the employees. Knowledge workers need to be educated to effectively use the EIDI and understand their new responsibilities and new workflows. Leadership needs to make sure workers get the help they need during the transition and motivate everyone to pull in the same direction for operations improvement. Leadership should encourage collaborative efforts in solving business issues and should reward people demonstrating that behavior. If there are change management issues, either logistical or with people struggling with the change, the team leadership needs to address and solve these issues. As deployment progresses, people become self-sufficient so they can create their own customized data views.
