ABSTRACT

In Chapter 7, the ProcIndustries team uses their enterprise information data infrastructure (EIDI) technology to benchmark and reduce unnecessary energy costs. They look at energy consumption; international energy standards; metering and inputs; and data capture, analysis, visualization, and reporting. Through real-time monitoring and managing energy events, peak demand, idle states, and demand/response issues, they are able to analyze and reduce inefficiencies. They also improve refinery power resiliency. By transitioning from offline modeling to building real-time multivariate monitoring, they can use batch time triggers find data sets of interest. To move toward their goal of optimum energy consumption, the team employs process flow diagrams for energy management and equipment performance (making their condition-based maintenance initiatives more effective), advanced analytic tools to gain real-time insights, and mass balance calculations and data reconciliation.
