ABSTRACT

Short Sims can, in just a few minutes, allow players to gain a new perspective. This is a brief description of some design considerations for creating just such a Short Sim, to be used in a corporate environment for high potential, self-motivated employees. Unlike simpler examples, this sim shows a higher level of responsive design, potentially disqualifying it from the strictest definition of Short Sim. The goal of the sim also had to match up with the real world—growing the business, impacted by the Four Party Model shown in the graphic. The payments learning program, of which this sim was part, was incredibly successful, with long waiting lists to participate and business transforming graduates. This example turned out to be more extensive than a traditional Short Sim from a design perspective, but it did meet the needed criteria at both the client and player perspective.
