ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews different pH-sensitive techniques integrated with advanced materials structures along with their merits and demerits. A traditional glass electrode-based pH sensor is extensively used due to its simplicity, wide measuring range, high long-term stability, and mechanically constancy. The future outlook for the development of materials-based pH-sensing technology is outlined. For many years, the metal oxides have been used for the development of an electrochemical mechanism-based pH sensor. The sensor was analyzed by measuring the pH of real test samples like cola, orange, coffee, milk, tea, and soda and compared with commercial pH sensor. Based on dual intensification modes like capacitance and differentiation, the sensitivity of the pH sensor was greatly improved. In this work, the pH detection range increased from 1-11, with a sensitivity of 64.29 mV/pH. Other advantages are a low-cost system, simple and easy fabrication, wide applications range, and tunability, etc.
