ABSTRACT

This chapter provides insights into the basic concepts of machine learning and data science, and its applications across various industries. Outcomes derived from the data transmitted by heterogeneous intelligent machines and devices assist in the decision-making process in industries. Data science is a scientific approach to provide meaningful insight from data using algorithms, methods, and processes. Machine learning and deep learning are the two common tools of AI that assist in making industrial technologies smarter. In industries, as heterogeneous types of data are commonly encountered, specific methods such as standardization and normalization are used to prepare the dataset prior to analysis. The various advantages of the application of data science in industries are as follows: The application of data science in industries provides various outcomes such as upgrading businesses through analysis of collected data, predicting consumed power before providing the solution, and accelerating businesses through data science solutions.
