ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the available literature on the development of different experimental setup and observations drawn based on the experimentation conducted by the researchers. The study showed that the abrasive mesh size, the concentration of abrasive, the working cycles, and the abrasive media flow rate are the dominant process parameters that affect the material removal rate and surface finish. Sankar et al. introduced the concept of rotating medium along its axis to achieve a higher rate of finish and material removal, and this process is called as drill-bit guided-abrasive flow finishing process. The chapter explains motivation for taking the present research work based on the detailed literature survey on the different aspects of abrasive flow machining process and influence of the finishing on the wettability and bacterial adhesion.
