ABSTRACT
Biotechnology is an emerging field that keeps on expanding with arrays of opportunities and challenges, especially in terms of finding out new methods and better treatment modalities for various human ailments, protecting the environment, reestablishment of extinct species, enhancing crops and food products, and finding out alternative and eco-friendly energy sources. This chapter discusses various careers in biotechnology and the status of job openings in the academic and industrial sectors involving biotechnology. It explains how one can get a suitable position in the biotechnology industry and how jobs in academic institutes are different from those in companies. Biotechnology is a very exciting sector with tremendous job possibilities and career development potential. The biotechnology field offers promising jobs in universities, research and development (R&D) centers, and corporate organizations such as drug manufacturing and drug marketing companies. There is a tremendous job satisfaction working in the R&D sector of biotechnology.
