ABSTRACT

Archer fish has an amazing feeding technique (eating terrestrial insects by squirting of water from their mouth) triggering research on the feeding mechanism of archerfishes. Apart from feeding techniques, research on the spitting success rate and accuracy of archer fishes’ in different size classes have not been addressed. This chapter examines the spitting success rate and accuracy of two species of archer fishes, and then determines if group size has an effect on spitting success rate and accuracy. Besides that, the diet composition of two closely related archer fishes are analysed and their tropic levels are determined.
