ABSTRACT

Studies on fish reproductive biology, more specifically spawning season, sex ratio, maturity stages, and fecundity are vital to tighten the conservation and management strategies of fishery resources. Regardless of the importance of studying fish reproductive biology, the research on spawning season, sex ration, gonadosomatic index have not been studied in any of the archer fishes. In this chapter, a detailed study on the gonadal development of the females, spawning season, sex ratio and fecundity of two archer fishes are discussed.
