ABSTRACT
The smart home (SH) concept is built around systems and devices to increase comfort, energy efficiency, privacy, and safety of its inhabitants and their data. This chapter identifies and discusses the design and development themes of smart homes: security design and management, systems design, simulations, products, activity and behavior patterns, and power efficiency.
