ABSTRACT

Anechoic chambers are echo free places to do accurate microwave measurements. Unwanted reflections are absorbed by wall mounted absorbers. Thus, any RF component will have to pass through the anechoic chamber measurements before entering into the market. Qualification of an antenna requires accurate measurements for its validation. Anechoic chamber measurements are considered accurate radiation parameters for all antenna systems. These radiations are functions of frequency, angle and polarization. Radiation patterns of an antenna are high frequency tests. The figure of merit of any anechoic chamber is defined in terms of reflectivity and quiet zone inside the chamber. There is an urgent need of large volume of quiet zones and low reflectivity parameters in an anechoic chamber, and the proposed work has emphasized optimization of these two parameters. A new class of multi dielectric cone absorber to reduce reflectivity has been proposed. The proposed design has been verified by using HFSS. Results of improved reflectivity and quiet zone volume have been presented in the proposed work.
