ABSTRACT

Swelling of the breast tissue in a male is an embarrassing symptom, often presented behind the facade of a ‘calling card’. In true breast swelling, glandular tissue is palpable behind the areola and is usually bilateral. This chapter presents a discussion on the causes, diagnosis, and investigation of symptoms related to breast. The chapter provides a general practitioner overview, differential diagnosis, possible investigations, and top tips for dealing with symptoms associated with breasts. The symptoms discussed are breast enlargement in men, breast lumps in women, breast pain, and nipple discharge. The differential diagnosis includes common, occasional, and rare causes of the symptoms.
