ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the issues related to preparing United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage nomination file (WHNF), and why it is important to have new methods for preparing the nomination file, and how Heritage Building Information Modelling can solve the issues in providing all the required information regarding these sites that will be listed in the UNESCO WHSL. The most important issue that faces the nomination file is if there is any missing information regarding the heritage site. UNESCO requires certain information to be provided so that the reconstruction of the sites is possible in the case of any disasters. Studies have been conducted regarding the topic of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in relation to the criteria, outstanding universal value, states’ parties, cultural governance as an approach for the purpose of the social and cultural sciences, politics of heritage, and the decision-making process.
