ABSTRACT

Network security can be classified into a broad range which encompasses many different technologies, devices, and their interconnected processes. Network security is especially important in a time when cybercriminals are becoming more aware of exploiting new users, and enterprises that have a huge repository of public data must take extra precautions in protecting their servers from any type of data breach. This chapter reviews various types of network security technologies, and explains how they work, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and the different products which use these technologies. A firewall is a network security system that observes the flow of incoming and outgoing network traffic. WI-FI Protected Access 3 is the latest wireless network security certificate protocol released by the Wi-Fi alliance.
