ABSTRACT

Explaining science to the public and to schoolchildren is called outreach and scientists do this more and more regularly. In this first example, I present a review of the excellent book Broader Impacts of Science by Professor Bruce J. MacFadden, a palaeontologist. This is linked to the Broader Impacts Program of the US National Science Foundation (NSF), which he became aware of whilst he was a professor and faculty curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
