ABSTRACT

Warning lines and service systems are important business components. This chapter begins with an introduction to the theory of queuing. Then we describe several common queuing situations and present mathematical models for the analysis of waiting lines based on certain assumptions. The models shown in this chapter are for single-channel, single-phase and multi-channel, single-phase problems. The solution shall be carried out using the corresponding analytical formulas. Different engineering and management related issues are identified, and their solutions are provided. All learning outcomes, solved examples, questions, and practice problems are mapped with Bloom’s Taxonomy level (BT level) 1 to 6.
