ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the design of intersections described is described in detail for signalized and unsignalized intersections, for channelized traffic, un-channelized traffic, with provisions for diverging, merge, acceleration lane deceleration lane, auxiliary lanes, islands, lighting, etc. based on traffic type, economics, topography, design speed, design vehicles, conflicts, etc. This chapter also mentions the best engineering practices essential for the safe functioning of at-grade intersections.
