ABSTRACT

The final output of the highway design is the production of drawings for plan, profile and cross sections of the road or highway to be constructed. Once the design is finalized and the cost of construction related to the design is estimated, the next job is to produce the drawings. The drawings must mention the various details required for the site setting out and construction. This chapter describes the production of various components of the design drawings and automatic combining of the components to produce the final drawings to be issued for construction. The automatic generation of drawings reduces the drafting time significantly, which in turn minimizes the cost of road design.
