ABSTRACT

Social Media refers to Internet-based technology tools that allow individuals to communicate, collaborate, and establish a community with others. Forensic investigation involves looking for digital evidence and information in support of investigations conducted by law enforcement personnel, military organizations, internal investigators, private investigators, and researchers. Social media forensics, by its very nature, will also involve a degree of social network analysis in which organizational structures and key players are examined and identified. The Internet has become a central repository for the sharing of user created multimedia content such as photographs and videos. A blog is a social media site maintained by an individual or organization with regular entries of commentaries or descriptions of events. The Internet can be used to plan meetings of users with shared interests. A wiki is a website that is created to support the collaborative development of content by multiple users.
