ABSTRACT

Faults may occur in a system at a crucial time. It is imperative that the concerned personnel should be able to undertake fault tracing and repairs in order to bring the system back to operational status as soon as possible. To do so, the DP technical staff or DP engineers must have a good understanding of the DP system so that a fault-tracing exercise can be undertaken and, if possible, repairs of the system thereafter.

This chapter covers the aspects of which a DP engineer is expected to be aware of. The chapter highlights the use of various technical manuals and the information contained therein, like single line diagram, cable list, cable details and input output specification. If these aspects are clearly understood, it can make the fault tracing exercise easy.
