ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 covers the methods for item analysis, including various traditional item characteristics based on ratios or correlations, mainly describing item difficulty, discrimination, probability of guessing, or missingness and response rate. An empirical item characteristic curve is presented for more detailed description of item functioning, and distractor analysis is introduced providing better understanding to the functioning of all offered options in multiple-choice tests for low as well as high performing students.
