ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 introduces regression models for the description of item functioning. Models for continuous, binary, ordinal and nominal items are presented using the linear, generalized-linear, as well as non-linear regression. We then discuss parameter estimation, model selection, and model fit. The presented models assume that the trait of interest is directly available and does not contain measurement error, an assumption which will be further relaxed in the next chapters.
