ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the topic of differential item functioning and differential distractor functioning and presents various methods for detection of these phenomena. We start with graphical approaches such as the Delta plot, and other classical statistical techniques such as the Mantel-Haenszel test and SIBTEST. We then discuss methods based on extensions of logistic regression models, including group-specific models for binary, ordinal, as well as nominal data. Subsequently, we focus on the IRT approaches and on other methods.
