ABSTRACT

Dimensional accuracy and surface integrity by traditional and non-traditional machining processes are dealt with in this chapter. Sources of surface alterations, their effects on the functional properties of machined parts, and recommendations for minimizing surface effects are also given. The surface quality and functional properties are discussed. The surface effects by traditional machining processes (cutting and grinding) are covered. Then, these are treated by the different non-traditional machining processes. Finally, measures of reducing distortion and surface effects in machining have been presented.
