ABSTRACT

Many workplaces pose concurrent hazards to the upper part of the head and face, especially the eyes. These threats are usually related to mechanical factors. In such a situation, the protection of an employee by means of personal protective equipment requires the use of safety helmets in conjunction with eye and face protectors, e.g. spectacles, safety goggles or visors. The following section presents the problem of compatibility of helmets with safety spectacles and goggles. It presents the results of tests on the behaviour of protective sets in case of falling weight impact on the helmet. Basic criteria were formulated for the selection and combined use of helmets with eye and face protective equipment. Simplified methods of self-assessment of the equipment compatibility designed for its users are also presented.
