ABSTRACT
Hundreds of freshwater and marine species are commonly kept in aquaria. Related species often share similar anatomic and physiologic features and disease susceptibilities. This chapter highlights and provides general information on some of the more important families of fishes in the hobby, introduces representative species in these families, and briefly summarizes regulatory considerations.
