ABSTRACT
The most important aspect of fish health and welfare is a proper, safe environment. In this chapter the details of water quality and life support systems are reviewed and elaborated upon. This includes the nitrogen cycle, aeration, water-borne toxins, and the various types of filtration that are commonly employed in aquariums and pond environments.
