ABSTRACT
Several ante-mortem diagnostic methods are critical first steps for any fish work up. This chapter describes external wet mount evaluation, which provides invaluable and immediate information to rule in or out infectious and some non-infectious etiologies, blood culture methods, and several different blood collection techniques, along with data for select species hematology and clinical chemistry reference ranges.
