Developing on sloping sites

Generally, slope failures in mixed soils, i.e. with cohesive and frictional strengths, occur in the form of a rotational slip. The failure usually exhibits heaving of the ground mass at the toe of the slope with back-scar cracking at the crest (Fig. 7.1).
