ABSTRACT

In many engineering problems, we are interested in the flow around a thin body in a uniform stream. In these cases, we may linearize our fundamental equations. We have discussed the linearized theory for twodimensional cases in more detail in Chapter VI. In this chapter we shall discuss three-dimensional cases of linearized theory. We shall restrict ourselves to irrotational flows whose fundamental relation is Eq. (6.26). In §2, we shall discuss some basic properties of this equation and also the boundary conditions for this equation which often occur in aeronautical engineering problems.
