ABSTRACT

Single crystals of the KDP family have been grown for more than 50 years (Loiacono 1987). In most cases, the linear dimensions of these crystals do not exceed 10 cm and the growth rate is not higher than 0.5–1 mm per day. It should be recalled that 40 years ago, when the quality of crystals was not as important as it is nowadays, the growth rate was quite high, for example Robinson (1949) succeeded in growing an ADP crystal 20 cm long at a rate of about 5 mm per day and Ansheles et al (1945) grew crystals of seignette salt at a very high rate.
