ABSTRACT

Analysts who find sessions with a single performer challenging may find group work daunting. When working with groups, analysts must not only be proficient in the technique being used, but also in group management, facilitation, and understanding group dynamics. This chapter presents information that will enhance the analyst's use of group elicitation and analysis techniques with multiple performers. It also presents ideas for using computer applications, such as mind mapping and video conferencing technology, that can be used to support group sessions. One of the most positive outcomes of a group session is a group's ability to recognize and reject incorrect, invalid, or unrealistic solutions and suggestions. An individual working with an analyst may be reluctant to provide negative feedback, or simply may not see possible flaws. Finally, the chapter concludes with a discussion of some of the challenges associated with group sessions.
