ABSTRACT
In the organization of the office it is essential to set up a work sequence, following guidelines, prior to engaging in the preparation of the preliminary design of bridges for the submission of proposals. At a certain phase during this period of organization, it is strongly recommended that a structural engineer, together with his/her partners or consultants, check the market of software dealing with bridge design from references concerning commercially available software and in-house programs. Some of the data are presented in this section. In the pages that follow, major programs and their sources are listed as a reference guide for the benefit of the reader, who should investigate the content of each program and decide on which should be part of the office library. Appendix 5 includes sources of such programs.
