ABSTRACT
In this chapter we give some general theorems about spectral families and also applications to spectral representation of three classes of operators on Hilbert spaces: hermitian operators, unitary operators, and normal operators. In these applications the representation theorems for commutative B*-algebras are of fundamental importance.
