ABSTRACT

The Product Support Function is the fourth major function within the Manufacturing Function of the corporate enterprise. Worker skills and availability change with the political and social changes. Buyer’s interests and demands are in a constant state of evolution under the influence of education and advertising. As a result, no field ever remains static for very long. It may be growing or shrinking, or just changing its nature, but it rarely remains stationary. An underestimation of the marketing task is not implied by the briefness of these few preceding paragraphs. They underrepresent by far the magnitude of the total marketing function. Production will supply information concerning the assembly and disassembly sequences, the nature of assembly fastenings, and similar information. Included will be information on the tooling and fixtures necessary for assembly and disassembly. The function prepares informational material concerning the products.
