ABSTRACT

In Figure 1.1, the types and sources of data required to do a cost estimate were outlined. Once the routing, the hours, the yields, and the material costs are available, work can begin in setting up a spread sheet (columnar pad) for manual calculations. If a computer program approach is utilized, depending on the program, data entry may begin. At the time of this writing the popularity of personal computers and availability of various spread sheet programs should just about eliminate manual calculations because of the economies to be gained. A manual calculation approach is illustrated in this chapter that provides the basis for setting up a personal computer spread sheet approach.
