ABSTRACT

This chapter covers considerations for the presentation of estimate results to management for their approval. Management deserves some consistency in presentation format and sequencing of data, from estimate to estimate, and from different cost engineers. There is a certain minimum amount of data that should be presented to document key information. The data should follow a pattern, so that reviewers know what to look for, where to look for it, and how to relate it to other information. Some area should also be left open for creativity on the part of an estimator. This is usually in the analysis portion of the report or presentation. For the purpose of presenting data in this chapter, the environment in which the estimate is conducted and presented is assumed to be one in which multiple products, in various technologies, are manufactured simultaneously. We presume some previous estimate had been done and the new estimate is being compared to it. It is hoped that readers who have a different environment can adapt the formats presented to their needs or glean a few useful ideas.
