ABSTRACT

The mechanics of implementing a statistical process control program are just like those for implementing any other program in a company. It takes planning, time, effort and money. And just like most other programs, for management to accept the idea the profitability of the program must be its major selling point. In presenting an SPC program changes in machines or product design should be downplayed, though once implemented SPC may indicate needed design or process changes. The whole thrust of SPC should emphasize using what you already have to work and manage smarter. SPC will give both workers and managers the tools to achieve higher productivity through higher quality and reduced waste.
