ABSTRACT

Networks are all around us in daily life. Entire industries have been built around specific types of networks which distribute such services as electricity, water, telephone, television, and environmental control. “Networking” is defined as “a series of points connected by communications channels”. The points, known as “nodes,” and the channels, known as “links,” support the transfer of information from source to destination and back again. Electronic networking of work centers is accomplished with the local area network which is described as a privately owned communication system. Electronic products bring along with their design activities such important information as parts lists, electrical schematics, logic diagrams, dimensions, and electrical characteristic values. Networks are identified by their connection configuration or “topology”.
